Fatal frame 6 rumor8/10/2023 Miu hears of a rumor that a woman who looks like her mother was seen heading to.Īfter her mother disappeared at a young age, she was cared for by a foster mother. FF was doing fine until it was locked to Nintendo, then it went from being a small niche IP to being practically irrelevant for years and years. There are successful cases to be made for associating your IP to a platform owner. The first game of that partnership was not even released outside of Japan. What good is it to invest in the IP if you're not even going to make it available to most consumers? The Japanese horror game, FATAL FRAME: Maiden of Black Water, originally released on Wii U in 2014, is now beautifully resurrected as a multiplatform title. Early Purchase Bonus Ryza Outfit and Ryza Hat revealed. The second one, the remake of 2 was a great game and thankfully released WW, but it sold badly like many, many third party games on the Wii did, specially that far off into the console life when most people had already moved on. I'm not even going to mention the 3DS thing. Maiden of the Black Water was another big mess. The last Fatal Frame game is re-releasing for modern platforms later this year and its producer hopes that he and his team will get to make a new one. Not only the WiiU was already a dead platform by the time of it's release it was digital only on the US, and it needed an external drive to be playable if you did not own a WiiU Deluxe. Fans even launched a campaign to get a proper retail release. So yeah, as a big fan of the FF series you bet I'm popping champagne at the thought of the IP being free from Nintendo. This partnership never did any good for either of then, the IP or the platform owner. I'm so happy that I pre ordered the game on Steam, and I'm probably double dipping on a physical edition on PS or Xbox.įeel free to congratulate Nintendo on it's half assed support to Fatal Frame if you want, I won't.
